NFB-NEWSLINE® In Your Pocket

We've increased the flexibility and functionality of NFB-NEWSLINE® so that you can more easily and quickly get your news through your mobile Victor Reader Stream, Icon or Braille+, BookSense, or Book Port Plus. With the download of our free software application, you only need to plug your digital talking book player into your computer with a USB cord, launch the free application, and your favorite newspapers and magazines will be placed on your device automatically— it's as easy as that!

How to Read Your Newspapers with your Portable Device

Using our own distribution software, which can be downloaded after you login, you can have your favorite newspapers and magazines sent to your digital talking book player in a jiffy. All you need to do, once you’ve installed our free software application, is set up your FAVORITES list for the content that you want to have delivered to your device. If you have not yet set up a Favorites list, you will need to login to NFB NEWSLINE® at www.nfbnewsline.org and select the link to MANAGE ALL YOUR FAVORITES. Select MANAGE YOUR FAVORITE IN YOUR POCKET PUBLICATIONS and add your desired newspapers and magazines. There is no limit as to the number of IN YOUR POCKET publications you may have.

To get your paper via your digital talking book player, just plug in your device (via a USB cord) to your computer and the content will be delivered to a folder on your device simply by clicking on the desktop icon for the application. The software will recognize your personal unit when you "plug" your digital talking book player into your computer, and you can also have your publications downloaded to your device’s SD card. The application will, when opened, retrieve the publications as specified in your Favorites list, and you will always receive the most current newspaper available (as many newspapers update their content throughout the day).

To begin reading your favorite newspapers and magazines on your device, please get the free application. The application will self-install on your computer.

To access NFB-NEWSLINE® content over your own digital talking book player, follow these steps:

  1. Make sure your favorite publications list is the way you want it (by selecting them on the phone).
  2. Install the free application on your computer.
  3. Plug your device into your computer with a USB cord and select the desktop icon to launch the application. (NOTE: You can easily access the desktop by holding down the Windows key and the letter M.)
